Lifetime Optometric (LTO) Contact Lens Policy

Are you interested in trying contacts for the first time?

Contacts can make a world of difference for someone who is craving greater comfort and more natural vision compared to prescription glasses.  We have the latest in contact lens technology including single use daily disposable contacts that are a perfect option to make your transition to contacts hassle free!  Since you are a new contact lens wearer, we will provide you a price quote for a New Contact Lens Fitting Fee after your comprehensive exam with the doctor.  The contact lens fitting includes the contact lens training, trial lenses, and a fitting period of 90 days.

What is the annual contact lens evaluation?

Contact lenses are FDA class 1 medical devices that have the potential for serious complications if not used and fitted properly. For that reason, the standard of care and the requirements of the California State Board of Optometry require an annual contact lens examination for renewal of a contact lens prescription. Contacts must be regarded with the same cautions you would use for prescription drugs, which include prescription expiration dates and follow-up visits when recommended by your eye doctor.

For established contact lens patients, the contact lens evaluation fee starts at $60.00 but it may need to be upgraded to a higher fitting fee depending on each patient’s prescription, patient’s needs, and the doctor’s examination.  If the doctor determines the patient needs to be refitted, we will provide you a price quote before any services are rendered.

How do I obtain a contact lens prescription?

The contact lens prescription will be released only when you and the doctor are satisfied with the comfort, fit and vision of your contact lenses. Due to the time our doctors and staff invest to ensure the best fit possible, the cost of the contact lens evaluation and fittings fees are non-refundable. While a contact lens exam is very important to the health of your eyes, your vision plan may not contribute to these services, or only cover a portion of your contact lens service or materials.
